Stonereefs develops and deploys 3D-printed reef structures that bring biodiversity into the built marine environment.
Our patented retrofit technology transforms existing sheet pile walls, quay structures and other marine infrastructure into complex habitats for marine life – without replacing or compromising the existing structures.
From ports and urban waterfronts to the seabed and offshore infrastructure, our solutions are designed to integrate nature where infrastructure already exists.

Purpose: Bring back biodiversity

A patented, flexible retrofit system designed to integrate reef modules into existing marine infrastructure. REEFlex transforms sheet pile walls into complex habitats for marine life – supporting biodiversity without compromising the structure's original function.

REEFrame transforms underwater columns and pillars into habitats for marine life. The modular system frames existing structures with added complexity, creating new surfaces, shelters and refuges that support marine biodiversity.

REEForm reshapes the seabed by adding three-dimensional structure and complexity to otherwise uniform environments. The modular reef system creates varied surfaces, cavities and refuges, transforming the seabed into diverse habitats for marine life.

StoneReefs is being utilized in Nordhavn, Copenhagen to enhance biodiversity within the harbor together with Copenhagen Municipality
Our communication installations make marine biodiversity visible and accessible to everyone. Information boards, made from reused sheet piles and featuring a Stonereefs module, tell the story of the underwater habitats being created nearby.
Benches shaped using the same organic geometries as our reefs provide a place to sit, learn and engage with the project – connecting life below the surface with the people above it.
